AUSTRALIAN VALUES AND BELIEFS...

A belief is the certainty feeling on the meaning of something. It is a personal affirmation that we considered true. In the same idea, values are the states to which the people give importance like success, security, love, happiness, etc. If we analice what are the differences and similarities between beliefs and values, we would conclude that there are more the similar aspects that they have than differences. For example, australians have very strong beliefs which are reinforced by the tenets of the country's society. In other hand australians values are composed by respect women, democracy and diverse cultures and tolerance. If you compare their social values and beliefs many similarities appear.

Respect is one of the most important values in Australia, however this value has a deep relation with their social beliefs. Australian beliefs in loyal fraternity, equality and friendship. Australians have a deep respect for a wide diversity of European cultures such as English and American. "We also have Muslims here. It's quite strange. It's a bit like your eccentric aunt come to visit the family for a few days and she's still there two years later. You can't help wondering when she's going to go home so you can relax and be normal again", said Dr. Gyorgy Scrinis, research associate in the Globalism Institute at RMIT University. The respect is combined by a equality and friendly society.

About tolerance, Australia is an extremely tolerant country. In other research, Dr. Gyorgy says "We tolerate homosexuals. We just don't like them in our churches and we don't want them getting married or having equal rights. But we do tolerate their deviant practices as long as we can avoid thinking about them. Of course we know that same sex attracted people can have a hard time". In this case, we would be compare tolerance value with non discrimination belief finding a significant similarity in the feeling on the meaning of something and the states to which the people give importance.

Australia is a perfect example of how values and beliefs can share the same meaning, it depends on the strong personal and individual ideas that people have to feel around the general society. Maybe we would look for differences both values and beliefs considering several cultures which we can find in other countries however in a nation, feelins and thinkings in general are the same. We can conclude that will be strange to thinking an ethical society without strong values and beliefs.

Jiang Zemin...Famous Criminal who act under "Tolerance and Benevolence"

Jiang Zemin was the Chinese ex-president who praticed the most important genocide in the recent China history. However he murdered million innocent people in China by the belief in the principles, Benevolence and Tolerance like improvement in the ethical values of the people and by the simple practice of exercises and meditation. This essay will examine some arguments against and favor about how these ethical values were the reason to commit the assassination.

Zemin
will have to confront the accusation of to have promoted the death of thousands of medical instructors of Falun Gong under horrible tortures, of to have promoted tens of thousand of illegal haltings and income caused in against of the will of the people in fields of forced works and mental hospitals under a regime of slavery and horrible tortures.

In Addition, the lawyer Carlos Iglesias indicated when presenting the complaint that the pretension of Jiang Zeming and its accomplices in these crimes of which they accuse themselves to them was the elimination of Falun Gong like national group and group with beliefs of high morality and ethics derived from the own essence of the Chinese town.

On the other hand, Zemi pretended to kill the Falun Group because considered its has a series of absurd concepts like "prominent coming of the aim of the world" and "promt destruction of to human", also it alleges that before it modern science is impotent and none government has remedy. These reasons were the basis by which Zemi make a decision to act according to Tolerance and Benevolence. Tolerance and Benevolence were the ethical values that his political and authoritarian familiy instil him during his childhood.

To sum up, I consider ethical values must to be the guide to improve our behaviour not the reason to kill people. Maybe Zemin confused the meaning of act into real Tolerance and Benelolence. If he was thinking in tolerance, he wouldn´t tortured or murdered under the direction of an organized plan to eliminate the national group called Falun Gong.

KEVIN RUDD... The values of this 26th Prime Minister of Australia

Kevin Michael Rudd has been considered one o the most important last Prime Minister of Australia thanks to his honesty, responsability, loyalty and respect however he was strongly criticised over its support for the United States in the invasion of Iraq while mantaining Labor´s position of support for the Australian - American alliance. This essay will examine some arguments against and favor about his moral, religious and political values during his labor leader.

Rudd has a Christian perspective to support his decisions and behaviour. The Christian perspective looks for create a communion between personal and social values with religious teachings. Rudd wrote in the essay The Month "If the churches are barred from participating in the great debates about the values that ultimately underpin our society, our economy and our polity, then we have rearched a very strange place indeed". For example responsability value helps him to make a decision that Australia becomes a member of the Kyoto Protocol like a signiicant step forward in the country´s efforts to fight climate change domestically, and he was honesty creating of a competitive economy believing in a free market economy.

Apart from this, Kevin Rudd gave assertive support in the Iraq war on 2006. He replaced 550 existing combat troop with new troops serving to create a peace plan to defend Israel´s actions. Loyalty was the determinat value expressed in this event by Prime Minister. Besides, during his Labor leader he supported the respect to workchoices legislation, climate change, global poverty, and debated in topics like therapeutic cloning and asylum seekers. However, people argue that loyalty was not ever his behaviour. He was strongly criticised by Howard government over his support for the United States in 2003 invasion o Iraq and subsequent operatiosn there, while mantaining Labor´s position of support for the Australian - American alliance.

On balance Kevin Rudd would be considered one of the most notable and valuable political person because he has proved with his actions, decisions and behaviour be a person with strong moral and religious values which helped to consolidate a good nation. Australians express positive points of view about his Labor leader. In my opinion he reached this fame thanks to practice values like respect, loyalty, responsability and honesty.

Seven Deadly Sins and Australia Values

In the thirteenth century, Dante listed the Seven Deadly Sins on the pathway to Paradise: Gluttony, lust, greed, envy, pride, anger and sloth. Now, almost eight hundred years later, people are still committing these seven and other sins in their common lifes.

Australians have an extreme beliefs about moral and religious traditions. However citizen are losing values like responsability, honesty and respect. Mortal sins are not officially listed, but include murder, abortion, perjury and adultery.

The Catholic Church divides sins into venial, or less serious, sins and mortal sins, which threaten the soul with eternal damnation unless absolved before death through confession and penitence. It holds mortal sins to be “grave violations of the Ten Commandments and the Beatitudes”, including murder, contraception, abortion, perjury, adultery and lust.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church states that “immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into Hell”.Although there is no definitive list of mortal sins, many believers accept the broad seven deadly sins or capital vices laid down in the 6th century by Pope Gregory the Great and popularised in the Middle Ages by Dante in The Inferno: lust, gluttony, avarice, sloth, anger, envy and pride.

Christians are exhorted instead to adhere to the seven holy virtues: chastity, abstinence, temperance, diligence, patience, kindness and humility. Whereas sin in the past was thought of as being an invididual matter, it now had “social resonance”.You offend God not only by stealing, blaspheming or coveting your neighbour’s wife, but also by ruining the environment, carrying out morally debatable scientific experiments, or allowing genetic manipulations which alter DNA or compromise embryos.

Mortal sins also included taking or dealing in drugs, and social injustice which caused poverty or “the excessive accumulation of wealth by a few”. Two mortal sins which continued to preoccupy the Vatican were abortion, which offended “the dignity and rights of women”, and paedophilia, which had even infected the clergy itself and so had exposed the “human and institutional fragility of the Church”. Hedonism and consumerism had even invaded “the bosom of the Church itself, deeply undermining the Christian faith from within, and undermining the lifestyle and daily behaviour of believers”.

Eastern Australian Catholics do not recognise the same distinction between mortal and venial sins as the Western or Latin Church does, nor does it believe that those people who die in a state of sin are condemned to automatic damnation.
